The Modulus Function
The Modulus Function
- We've already seen the modulus function in Core Pure 1.
- It makes negative numbers positive.
- E.G. \(|-1|=1\)
\(|3x-5|=2-\frac{1}{2}x\)
- Draw \(y=|3x-5|\) and \(y=2-\frac{1}{2x}\)
- Find the first point: \(3x-5=2-\frac{1}{2}x\)
- \(\frac{7}{2}x=7\)
- \(x=2\)
- \(y=1\)
- Invert the modulus equation to find the reflection of the line:
- \(-3x+5=2-\frac{1}{2}x\)
- \(-6x+10=4-x\)
- \(-5x=-6\)
- \(x=\frac{6}{5}\)
